Hi There! I’m Marcy,
the artist behind
I grew up surrounded by the woods and landscapes of Alabama and later made my home along the Florida coast.
The places we live, and the particular elements within them, have always felt deeply personal to me—as though they become part of us over time. A favorite creekside path. The porch where we were held and listened to. The mango tree behind our first house. A beloved university campus. A church, a shoreline, a family home. Certain places, and the motifs within them, stay with us long after we’ve left them.
Those are the places I’m drawn to paint.
I have always believed that beauty is one of God’s quiet gifts to us, inviting us to slow down and notice what matters most. Whether found in nature, a building with a history, or a simple moment of light, beauty has a way of drawing us back to gratitude, wonder, and belonging.
All of my art is rooted in this: sunlit warmth, connection to place, and beauty that tells a story. My hope is to create something beautiful, that is also deeply infused with meaning—art that reminds someone of a part of their story they want to hold on to.
Thank you for visiting. I’m honored you’re here, and I hope you discover a piece that feels like coming home.
My Inspiration…
Doris & June is named for my two remarkable grandmothers, who shaped my aesthetic in profound ways…
Doris has taught me warmth.
She’s practical, generous, full of gumption and spirit, always one to light up when she sees you and pull you into the best Granny-hug. Time with her always feels easy and welcoming- the kind of place where you can show up exactly as you are and know you belong. She taught me that you’re never too old to try new things, and that people and simple pleasures, like sipping lemonade in a mason jar on the front porch, are what bring meaning to life.
June taught me beauty.
She had an extraordinary eye and introduced me to a world of elegant interiors with French antiques and Japanese chinoiserie, beautiful rose gardens, horses and cats and dogs. Waterford crystal, silk drapes, ballroom dancing, artifacts from around the world. I loved her elevated design sense that was never stuffy, always punctuated by her delightful laugh and her desire to make things nice for others. She showed me that beauty can nourish the spirit and can be cultivated and woven into everyday life.
What I didn’t understand as a child- but appreciate deeply now—is that both grandmothers were teaching me the same lesson from different directions:
Beauty and meaning belong together.
Every piece I create carries something of both women: Doris’s warmth and June’s appreciation for beauty. Together they remain a reminder to slow down, pay attention, and treasure the people, places and moments that become part of us.
Doris & June is my way of carrying that legacy forward.
My Work…
I work in watercolor, acrylic, and a handful of other things that keep it interesting,—printmaking, wooden and shell mosaics, and the occasional textile or wood-burning. I have always loved working with my hands and the tactile, unhurried quality of traditional art-making.
My art is all about juxtapositions: loose yet detailed, casual yet elegant, soft while still carrying visual weight. It fits well in a styled interior, yet still connects to something deeply personal.
Nature finds its way into nearly everything I create—in the landscapes, botanicals, coastal light and sun-warmed palettes, and sometimes quite literally through driftwood, shells, leaves and other treasures gathered along the way.
The pieces that resonate the most with me are the ones that feel like they come from someplace deep—
Full of sunshine, story, and soul.
If something here resonates— or if you have a place, a building, or a story you’d love to see painted—I’d love to hear from you!
